More favourable tax regime for online casinos in terms of state aid
Date: 20/09/2011Having analysed the new act concerning gaming in Denmark, the European Commission arrived at the conclusion on 20.09.2011 that the newly adopted act liberalizing gaming in Denmark and offering lower taxes for online casinos (compared to brick-and-mortar casinos) is in compliance with the EU law on state aid. The reason for the decision was the benefits of the industry liberalization prevailing over a potential breach of competition.
